Celia Barrett, ASID, IIDA is the principal and owner of Celia Barrett Design LLC, a boutique interior design firm with offices in Jackson, Mississippi and New York City. Ms Barrett has been an interior designer for more than 27 years. She has been a senior project designer for leading New York City firms since 1980. In 1985 she left the position of Senior Store Designer for Macy's Corporate to form her own business.
Ms Barrett holds a bachelor's degree in Interior Design from the Auburn University College of Architecture. She has continued her studies, in both stage design and antiques, at Auburn and Parson's School of Design in New York City. Ms Barrett is on the Advisory Board for the Mississippi College School of Fine Arts Interior Design Curriculum and is an adjunct professor of interior design at MC.
Ms. Barrett is a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and International Interior Design Association. She is NICIDQ Certified #012220 (National Council on Interior Design Qualification). Ms Barrett has been published in Design Concepts Magazine (cover story, Mississippi Magazine, From House to Home Magazine, ChaseNews and Drapery and Window Coverings Magazine. Her work was shown in the 1997 "Women in Architecture" exhibit at the Urban Center Gallery on Madison Avenue in New York City. "Lake Caroline" was a color feature in the Clarion Ledger, Jackson's premier newspaper. She has been featured in Jackson's "St. Andrews Showhouse" for six years straight. Ms Barrett was the interior design consultant for the ABC affiliate in Jackson, Mississippi, and had a regular "segment" on decorating. She is now the design consultant for the NBC affiliate in Jackson.
Residences designed by Ms Barrett often have a casual elegance and yet an efficient use of space. She is comfortable working with contemporary, traditional or eclectic styles. Each project is personalized to the individual client's esthetics and lifestyle.
Her designs for commercial and public spaces are unique, creative and well planned. Ms Barrett has designed spaces for Macy's, Merrill Lynch, Dean Witter Reynolds, Chase Manhattan Bank, Shereff Friedman law offices, J. Walter Thompson Advertising, Gresham Capital, Zen-Noh Unico America Corporation, American Exploration and The New York Stock Exchange. In Mississippi for The University Club, Fitness Lady spa/fitness club, in North Carolina, River Ridge lodge and condominiums.
She has designed lobbies, retail spaces, showrooms, restaurants and art galleries.
She had recently opened a satellite office in her home town of McComb, MS.
